Lynne MishalanieProducer/Director of Utica Monday NiteLynne Mishalanie is a woman of many talents. She is an entrepreneur, a singer, an actress and truly a woman of vision. Utica Monday Nite started as her own concept for a marketing program to enhance the arts economy and to stimulate growth in the Central New York region. Because of her personal involvement with the arts, she is and has been a supporter and participant in the arts community of the area. Local history is important to her and she has been able to successfully incorporate local history into the fabric of Utica Monday Nite. Lynne has a varied background. She holds a Master's Degree from Syracuse University, has worked as a counselor and administrator with the developmentally disabled and emotionally disturbed as well as abused women and children both in Syracuse and Utica. As a businesswoman, she has started numerous successful independent enterprises. She is a member of several local groups including DUDA and The Players and has been honored by such civic organizations as the YWCA. She has been a performer for over 25 years starting in the '70s with the commercial pop group "Ms." (a trio of the Mishalanie sisters), playing to regional audiences. She appeared in stage productions in Syracuse and Utica, including musical comedy, drama and ensemble work. A true thespian, she can be seen in local productions nearly every season. A well-known local jazz singer, Lynne has performed throughout the Central New York area with such noted accompaniment as Lyman "Butch" Strong and Rick Montalbano. She performs frequently with various local musicians. Not only is she the Producer/Director of Utica Monday Nite, she can be heard as a performer as well. Lynne's vision for a summer arts, history and heritage festival has grown into an immensely successful summer-long celebration of music, art, dance and history. Every Monday Nite, you will see Lynne at the all of the venues throughout the city. Whether she is introducing an act, helping a musician with equipment, chatting with the audience or just making sure everything is running smoothly, this talented and visionary woman is out there "making it happen". Lynne has more projects in the works and, as always, they will be the perfect blend of business and art! |
